@ smiddy - good post.
We've been handed a loaded gun by the Magnificent Seven in Brooklyn/Warwick.
Let's use it whenever an opportunity arises.
that admission in the feb.17 ,study edition of the watchtower , " who is leading gods people today ?
" "the governing body is neither inspired, nor infallible, therefore it (they/we) can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction .".
have the many jehovahs witnesses past and present who have lost their lives by refusing blood transfusions due to the prohibition on blood tranfusions by jehovahs witnesses really got the sense of this statement ?.

@ schnell - "new scrolls." :)
Excellent opportunity for planting seeds when a J.W. uses this phrase! Strike while the iron is hot.
based on the following statements of the wtbts, the first resurrection began in 1918, is ongoing, and ceases when the living anointed are taken to heaven - just before armageddon..
(w88 10/15 p. 12 par.
13) "....according to all the evidence, those of the anointed who had already died faithful began to be resurrected to their promised place in the heavenly sanctuary starting in 1918.".
Based on the following statements of the WTBTS, the first resurrection began in 1918, is ongoing, and ceases when the living anointed are taken to heaven - just before Armageddon.
(w88 10/15 p. 12 par. 13) "....according to all the evidence, those of the anointed who had already died faithful began to be resurrected to their promised place in the heavenly sanctuary starting in 1918."
(w07 1/1 p. 30 par. 18) "As Christ’s presence progresses, anointed Christians who faithfully finish their earthly course are changed "in the twinkling of an eye" into powerful spirit creatures."
(w14 2/15 p. 10 par. 12) "Sometime after the destruction of Babylon the Great, Jesus will gather to himself all the remaining members of the bride class. Before the outbreak of the war of Armageddon, therefore, all members of the "bride" will be in heaven."
(The first resurrection - according to the Brooklyn hierarchy - will be completed before Armageddon commences)
Revelation 20:1-3 tells of certain events which take place before the first resurrection occurs, followed by the resurrection itself in verse 4:
1) "And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven with the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand."
2) "He seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for 1,000 years."
3) "And he hurled him into the abyss and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not mislead the nations anymore until the 1,000 years were ended. After this he must be released for a little while."
4) "And they came to life and ruled as kings with the Christ for 1,000 years."
According to the organization, the first resurrection began in 1918 and concludes prior to Armageddon - followed by the "second" resurrection which occurs sometime after Armageddon.
According to Rev. 20:1-12, the first resurrection (the righteous) only begins after Satan is thrown into the abyss, with the second resurrection (the unrighteous) occurring at the end of the 1000 years.
The only possible way for the WTBTS to dismiss the Bible account is to claim that the apostle John got the Revelation details chronologically wrong, just as they did with Luke's account of the Lord's evening meal. (it-2 p. 130 Judas - "Luke’s presentation of this incident evidently is not in strict chronological order")
On that basis, the org's faithful worshippers will swallow it.
yesterday, i missed a call and got a long voicemail from an elder who would like to meet with my wife and i some time this weekend, with another elder who dealt with my brother.
i haven't responded.
it's meeting night tonight, and my wife has already talked about staying home to do yoga with me instead.. yeah.
The only words needed are these - "I have private & personal issues which I will deal with, but thank you for asking."
Firewall in place - end of! They are entitled to nothing more, and they know it.
to help me move on after leaving the org and to maintain my sanity, i have worked on not regretting the time i spent in it.
granted, i have only been out 6 years and was 22 when i left, i still was an active jw from age 16-22. those were prime times of my youth that i will never get back.
i wanted to play high school football and basketball but couldn't.
It's very hard (if not impossible) not to have bitter regrets at times, because after all, even awakened J.W.'s are human!
Although I may not be as young as Herelgo and other contributors, I genuinely get my "silver lining in the cloud" by applying the "butterfly effect" principle to my own life and looking at where I stand now.
Live a great life and build upon the learning and experience you gained as a J.W.
Get some good out of the bad, and be grateful every day that you are free to live!
most witnesses i knew were exteeemly reluctant to go out in the ministry.
but when they did, they were simply scraping by, eager to avoid conflict and just do their hour or so speaking to lonely old ladies or widowed old men.
placing magazines in a car group, doing route calls, plodding along in the utter boredom of their responsibility to get some time on a report by the last day of the month.. this was never a warning work.
For most J.W.'s, the priority was to clock enough hours for the monthly report - any "interest" was a surprising bonus.
Every Auxiliary Pioneer is asked by fellow Witnesses, "Have you done your hours yet?". I've never heard an A.P. asked, "Have you started any Bible Studies this month."
APathy is ever-present - and growing.
there continues to be more and more rumors of more halls being sold off some even taking the first offer.
the borg trying to get thier bond money back from the court in san diego asap and there's been elders meetings about this consolidation.
my questions is why after selling off all this real estate in new york for over a billion dollars are they still acting like thier broke?
Forever the optimist, I'm still convinced that the org has a very great need, not greed - a consequence of their bad investments coming home to roost in 2008. (I'm open to 'new lights' being produced to show otherwise)
Nothing else justifies the draconian panic measures which the org has enforced in the past few years - the key word being 'panic'!
We really need another Raymond Franz to reveal the truth about this topic.
tl;dr: if you live either in scotland or in other parts of uk and you don't mind traveling, you might be able to help a fellow ex-jw by being present during a courtcase where she alone has to face more than two dozens of jws who have ruined their business.
please contact me directly for details on when and where the court case will be held (i will know these details in few days probably).
ps.
More details needed. Zero info from the national newspaper - Daily Record.
(john 7:34) you will look for me, but you will not find me, and where i am you cannot come.
(john 8:21) "so he said to them again: "i am going away, and you will look for me, and yet you will die in your sin.
(john 13:33) "little children, i am with you a little longer.
(John 7:34) You will look for me, but you will not find me, and where I am you cannot come."
(John 8:21) "So he said to them again: "I am going away, and you will look for me, and yet you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come."
(John 13:33) "Little children, I am with you a little longer. You will look for me; and just as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I go you cannot come'...."
If the apostles were being told that they weren't heaven-bound.............................?
Which part of "cannot' is hard to understand?
namely an e-religion with minimal congregations?
notice the very similar subject matters.
